History 411/511 Public History Lab

Donna Sinclair is teaching a History 411/511 class through the History Department and would like to encourage students from various disciplines to take it.

The course is a Public History Lab focused on creating a website for the Chinook Indians of the Lower Columbia River.

It is ideal for CD students and those who want to engage in qualitative work via Sociology, Anthropology, and Urban or Native American Studies because it is a community based project and incorporates a variety of methodologies. Students will practice document, photo, and oral textual analysis. They will also take field notes, and write field memos and web text in exhibit format. We will also focus on ethical research practices.
