Recurring Debt Crises and the Contour of Global History

Thurs May 22nd

  • 6 p.m. – Attend a fascinating talk Recurring Debt Crises and the Contour of Global History, a keynote lecture presented by Dr. Mark Metzler, University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Metzler is one of the most thoughtful and original interpreters of the history of capitalism in Japan, placing this history squarely at the center of world history rather than relegating it to a peripheral ‘East Asian case study.’ His talk will focus substantially on the history of economic bubbles in Japan, going back three centuries until present day.
