GRADUATE STUDENT WORKER
Faculty Senate Task Force on Academic Quality Office of Institutional Research and Planning Portland State University
The Faculty Senate Task Force on Academic Quality and the Office of Institutional Research and Planning are seeking a graduate student worker to assist with qualitative survey data analysis, development of a web page for communicating the work of the task force, and interviews or web research to gather information on other universities.
ELIGIBILITY:
The graduate student worker must be admitted to a PSU graduate program and currently enrolled in a minimum of 5 or more graduate credit hours. Must maintain 3.0 GPA or higher.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Assist with analysis of survey comments.
 Conduct interviews with other universities or web searches on universities’ policies and practices regarding issues of academic quality.
 Create a web page for communicating the work of the task force.
 Analyze results and summarize information into tables or short narratives.
REQUIREMENTS:
 Experience and training in research design, research methodology, and data analysis.
 Experience with interview techniques, including transcribing and analyzing results.
 Experience with basic statistical techniques.
 Experience in uploading and organizing information on web pages.
 Experience with SPSS or SAS statistical software, MS Excel, and MS Word.
 Ability to write clearly and concisely in English.
This position begins immediately and continues through June, 2015. Applicants must have completed 5 graduate credit hours in Fall Term 2014 with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and must be enrolled for 5 or more graduate credit hours Winter Term 2015. The hourly rate will be $15.00 per hour and the successful candidate will be expected to work approximately 12-15 hours per week from date of appointment. The position does not include a tuition remission.
