Slam poetry event, Mending Masculinity

From Pacific University’s Center for Gender Equity: Through performance, poetry, and critical dialogue KAVI ADE & VISION of the Mending Masculinity tour cultivate a conversation that encompasses all forms of masculinity, the performance of gender, with poems focusing on gender, sexuality, multicultural identity, race, violence, sexual assault, and more.
Their art aims to task men of all journeys to unpack, heal, and create a path to whole masculinities. Collectively the duo has toured over 25 international cities and over 70 colleges and universities performing poetry on varying identities, community, and artistic expression. Both utilize art in pursuit of social, economic, racial, and gender justice.
This event will be hosted at the La Hacienda Ballroom, 2020 Main Street, Forest Grove, OR.  Admission is a $10.  If you are interested in participating in the slam poetry contest portion, please email: araeproductions@pacificu.edu.

Dr. Murillo – Job talk Thurs Jan 19 and student lunch Fri Jan 20th

Please join us for a talk entitled “Hacking Ties: transnationality, morality and politics of computing expertise” by Dr. Luis Felipe Rosado Murillo. The talk will be held in Cramer Hall sub-basement room S-17 at 4:00 PM on Thursday, January 19th. Dr. Murillo is a finalist for the open position in applied socio-cultural anthropology.

Participatory workshop on team-based Rapid Qualitative Inquiry (RQI) focused on how RQI differs from traditional qualitative research and from Rapid Assessment Process (RAP) in terms of speed, flexibility, use of technology to speed-up and improve the process, ethics, and relationship to case-study, participatory and action research with special focus on ways to increase rigor. Will include practice team interviewing and analysis. Participants are encouraged to contact beebe@gonzaga.edu, and visit the Rapid Qualitative Inquiry web site.

The Anthropology Department is in the process of hiring a new Assistant Professor with expertise in applied socio-cultural anthropology.
Our Search Committee has selected three finalists for on-campus interviews. Candidates will be on campus in the second and third weeks of the term. Please come meet them!
